Beneteau Boat Services
Prime Motor Yachts offer a variety of boat services. We are primarily suppliers of new Beneteau Motor Boats as we believe that in a complicated market customers would prefer to deal with a specialist in one area than a company trying to trade with many different hats.
We operate an active boat brokerage service but this tends towards the selling of customers boats, boats we have agreed as part exchanges, or more generally in French manufactured products. We have significant knowledge in these areas and prefer to only market boats we have supplied or boats with a clear and transparent history. By retailing these types of products we find it makes the sales process considerably more straightforward for all and gives us a clean and simple reputation for selling good quality well priced product.
Part of our facility at Portland marina comprises a 3000 sq ft purpose built commissioning shed, where all the new order Beneteau boats are commissioned. Having space indoors is a huge benefit as we find the standards of work better, the throughput more controlled and the reliability of sub-contractors higher as they prefer working indoors, especially during the autumn and winter.
We are very keen to offer maintenance services to our existing clients and during the winter and early spring we use the commissioning shed to re-antifoul and service our clients boats. We have a growing list of customers who return their boat to us every year because they can be assured of top quality service at very competitive prices. We see the onward maintenance of the boats we've supplied as a key part of the supply process and a service which gives reassurance to customers buying boats from Prime. We are regularly asked to carry out works to boats other than Beneteau' but due to the demand this is not normally possible.

Sea school training
We have access to a whole host of instructors and teachers dependant on the level of service required and the amount of sea school training required. Often an amount of training is included in the boat buying package however some customers want a couple of days of one to one boat handling whereas other customers want to spend more time training and to achieve accrediations, whatever the need we are happy to assist.
Moorings
Like all boat suppliers we have good contacts with marina's in all areas of the globe. We can assist with mooring arrangements in every boating area of the planet from local berthing at Portland and Weymouth to all areas of Europe and far beyond.
Boat Transport
Over the years we have been trading we have now supplied and transported boats to virtually every continent and many many countries. As buying patterns have changed we have seen UK purchasors buy boats which were to be berthed in warmer climes, more recently we have seen a large number of Europeans come to UK to buy, due primarily to exchange rate issues. We have always had clients move to disparate parts of the planet and want to transport their boat with them. Whether it be a small 6m boat that needs moving across the uk or a huge boat that needs to cross an ocean we have the contacts and knowledge to help.
Boat Insurance
We are not regulated by the FSA with relation to boat insurance business, this way we have formed no direct ties with any insurance organization. We are happy to provide customers with an up to date list of the most popular insurance companies as used by our clients who keep us up to date with the premiums they're paying to insure their boat and the service they're receiving - who better to get information from but the end user.
Marine Surveyors
We have a gathered a list of respectable and highly experienced surveyors over the years, a couple of the surveyors we now recommend actually worked for clients who were buying from us and we found them to be highly professional and sensible people. Surveying is a particularly difficult role in the marine world as considerable experience is needed to fairly and honestly report as to a vessels condition, especially in difficult market conditions. There are more semi-professional bodies representing marine surveyors than many customers expect and we have found that this can lead to confusion. Accordingly our approved list contains surveyors who certainly are correctly consituted members or fellows of YBDSA or other equally highly respected institutions.
Boat upgrading and reconditioning
Our state of the art facilities at Portland gives us the ability to carry out upgrading or installation of additional equipment to clients boats in a time and cost efficient way. Whether it be to supply and fit some new covers, to install a genset, fit upgraded electronics or radar, fitting bow or stern thrusters, air conditioning etc, all has and continues to be done within our facilities. With indoor work space all these types of tasks become far more straightforward and we strongly believe that the client sees a better job completed on time to price. Once again our priority is to serve our existing and future customers, accordingly we are not normally able to rent our space to any other consumers.
Marine Finance
We also have numerous contacts in the very specialized world of marine finance, from simple purchase solutions to more complicated transactions. The finance world has changed greatly in the past few years and market leaders have changed regularly within this sector, fortunately a few providers have continued to plough the same furrow throughout and it is those marine finance companies that we can normally introduce clients to.
Boat Shows
You will find staff from Prime Motor Yachts at all the major UK boat shows where Beneteau have a presence, together with some of the more important international boat shows such as Paris, Cannes and Dussledorf. Due to time constraints customers cannot always find time to attend their most convenient show and it is therefore not uncommon for them to visit any of the shows throughout Europe, we are happy to show customers boats at any of these venues, the pre xmas boat show in Paris is always great fun.
Boating Organisations
Prime are full members of the British Marine Federation and full members of the Boat Retailers Federation. We use the recommended BMF sales and brokerage contracts in all our transactions.
Client Monies
Prime have a properly constituted client account into which all client monies are paid, this arrangement has been verified by the relevant boating organisations and complies with their requirements in full.
