Prime Motor Yachts are delighted to announce our relocation to the new Dean & Reddyhoff Portland Marina.

We moved all boat commissioning and support to new workshop facilities at the marina earlier in the year. This enables us to carry out all kinds of service and maintenance work all year round in the dry for boats as large as 75 feet.

With the completion of the new commercial facilities at Portland Marina we have now moved into our new offices. This will enable us to provide a greater level of service with all the Prime Team being on site and able to provide a complete ‘end to end’ service from boat sales through to ongoing customer service and support.

We will continue to support our customers wherever they keep their boats and, as always, we are only a phone call away on our new easy to remember number shown below.

The following is a summary of a recent boat test report on the Flyer 850 Sundeck from the French magazine Moteur Boat.

Fun for all!

The largest model of Beneteau’s Sundeck Flyer range is fast and comfortable thanks to its hull and its 4 berths cabin. Being extremely well priced this boat is a success in the making!

Launched at the ’08 Paris Boat Show, the 850 Sundeck from Vendée boat manufacturers Beneteau, tops a 5 model strong range starting from 5m.

With an external design by Andreani, it benefits from the patented Air Step® hull, developed by the Beneteau research department, which ensures a smooth and sound behavior at sea. The planing is immediate as the Air Step kicks in from the start, creating an air cushion even at low speed – this is not the case on other step-hull boats, where a similar effect is created once the boat is planing and travelling at high speed. On the Flyer 850 planing is almost instantaneous and without any bow lift.

Presented with a twin-200cc Suzuki engine set-up for this trial, the boat is also available in a single 300cc engine version. Although the single engine model offers a cost saving compared to the twin model, it is not as fast (34 against 42 knots).

Underneath the pilot seat, the leaning-post does actually hide a sink, gas ring, coolbox and gas bottle space accessible from the cockpit. This features a very generous U-shaped seat which can accommodate up to 8 people around a solid wood table (fitted as standard).

Plentiful storage is provided by lockers under the side seats as well as a hold. Access to the elevated front deck (trademark of all Sun decks!) is preferably through the portside catwalk, slightly wider than on starboard. Protected by a high pulpit, the sun pad surface is very large and can be totally covered by sun cushions, which are optional.

The 850 Sun Deck is a versatile model. Not only do its fittings make it attractive to the family cruising market but its large cockpit and huge sun pad are also very enjoyable when moored.

As for its Air Step hull, this is efficient and a joy to pilot.
